"83 summers on the Quogue dune in a small house my parents built in 1937. 1938 hurricane washed away the Penniman cottage next door and I remain the last person from Quogue alive to evacuate the beach during the eye of the storm, riding upon my mother’s shoulders as she waded chest deep in water to the bridge after the car became flooded.
The war. Soldier boys camped next door. The Yacht Club and SS boats. Junior Sports which my mother helped run during the War. The Beach Club with its tall poles leading heavy lines out to the barrels. The Hobie Cat years. All the great characters of the Village.
As to art, I follow a long maternal tradition thus to the beholder Res Ipsa Loquitur; the thing bespeaks itself."
All are welcome to the Artist Reception Sunday, June 23rd | 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM
